This is a service where a care worker remains awake all night and available to ensure service user safety and provide reassurance. The care worker is able to make risk assessment and judgement of any situation that may arise. Waking nights can start any time in the evening up to 10pm for 10hrs.
Benefits of having a waking night carer
-
Giving service users reassurance that they are not alone at night should they need help.
-
Offering assistance when the service user is likely or is known to have sleepless nights or broken sleep.
-
Reducing the risk of falls at night by assisting should a service user get up at night possibly in a confused toilet or simply to use the toilet.
-
The monitor is able to monitor the well being at night and feedback with consent to all who need to know.
